I’m Yours

by Brent Archer

Toby Hayden shows up to the only interview he’s gotten in two years sopping wet from a stormy day and a broken umbrella. Concierge Merrick Hamilton shakes his hand for luck and bolsters his self-confidence. Quickly proving his aptitude, Toby lands the job and impresses his bosses.

But one of the directors finds out about the accusations that forced him to resign from his prior job, and she hires his former lover into the marketing department. After two years of silence, Mark Spencer tries to push his way back into Toby’s life. Mark holds the key to proving Toby’s innocence, but, true to form, shows no inclination to help Toby. This job is Toby’s last chance in Seattle, and if he loses it, he’ll have to leave behind the city he loves as well as the budding relationship with Merrick.

About the Author

Brent Archer was born in Spokane, Washington, and lived there most of his adolescent life. At 18, he left for Seattle to attend the University of Washington for Electrical Engineering, but he ended up with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in History. After graduation, he pursued an acting career in musical theater and dance. Once thirty hit, however, he focused on numbers, getting a certificate in accounting, and became the Financial Controller of a non-profit arts and music organization. He was laid off during the first year of the Covid Pandemic, so he hung up his ten-key and never looked back.

Though writing most of his life, he never thought to submit his work for publication. In 2012, he visited his cousin Delilah Devlin in Arkansas, and she prodded him to write a story and submit it. So, he did, and it sold right away. With the encouragement of Delilah, his other writing cousin Elle James, and his husband, Brent embarked on a writing career. He’s loving the journey, finding inspiration and a story everywhere he goes, whether it be the local coffee shop or riding the train to explore the world.
