Glory Days

by Janice Jarrell

The ‘Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words’ blog said this about Love’s Glory: “In a way, Love's Glory is Janice Jarrell's gift to her reader's and this couple who have been through so much angst and pain and have now mostly emerged through the other side, intact and ready to move forward to the next stage in their lives."

Ms. Jarrell’s newest offering, Glory Days, enhances this gift with fifteen short stories set in the Love’s Glory universe. The tales begin while Colin and Joshua are still on their honeymoon in Ireland and conclude just before Colin begins law school. Story topics range from the achingly romantic and sexy (“Walking In The Rain”) to the hilariously comical (“Conversations At The Cabin”).

Colin and Joshua aren’t the only stars in Ms. Jarrell’s latest work. All six Revolutionary Heart men are featured. David and Nate get their own story (“Playing The Part”) and Trent and Jeff also get a piece exclusive to them (“Trent’s Triplets”).

The love is enduring, the humor is at once warm and side-splittingly snarky, and the lovemaking is intense. You won’t be sorry you followed the passionate and deeply devoted men of Revolutionary Heart on their newest journey in Glory Days.

From the story: Walking in the Rain

For a long time, they ambled along the ridge in silence. As they walked, Joshua inhaled deeply, loving the feeling of the rain on his face, the scent of the misty damp air all around them, and the soft pat-pat-pat of the raindrops against their clothing. “I’ve never done this before,” he told his husband.

“Done what?”

“Walked in the rain.”

“Really?” Colin said in surprise.

“Well, I’ve walked in the rain, but never on purpose.”

“Well, every day with me is a new adventure,” Colin said with a chuckle.

Joshua smiled and slid his arm through Colin’s. He leaned his head against Colin’s shoulder as they walked in step, the broad strength of it filling his chest with a sense of comfort. The rain, as it danced upon them, seemed to unify them with the land upon which it fell, merging them into a single, softly glistening entity.

“I love this,” Joshua said, hugging Colin’s arm tighter. “I love being here with you like this.”

Colin stopped and turned to face him. “Have we ever kissed in the rain?” he asked, his voice a low rumble in his chest.

Joshua looked up at him. He felt a soft sting as raindrops fell onto his face and into his eyes, making him seem to weep though he’d seldom felt such peace and happiness. “I don’t think so,” he whispered, then closed his rain-filled eyes as Colin’s arms tightened around him.

His lips captured Joshua’s in a wet, hard kiss made slippery by the water covering their faces. Their lips slid against each other’s as Colin’s tongue danced around Joshua’s, kissing him with a slow, open, sensual touch that seemed to invite the rain to be a partner in their embrace.

They stood for a long time at the top of the bluff, their kisses growing more passionate as the moments passed, until finally Colin’s mouth trailed down Joshua’s throat, licking at the rain that lingered on his skin. “Jesus, I love you so much, Joshua,” he whispered.

Joshua’s arms tightened around his neck, and he drew in a ragged breath as his face pressed against Colin’s rain-soaked hoodie. “And I love you,” he said, his voice a silken whisper. “With all my heart, I love you, Colin.”

Colin drew him close and tight against his body, and for a long time they stood in silence, clasped in each other’s arms. The unity they felt with each other at that moment extended outward to include their connection to the beauty surrounding them, making words an unwelcome intrusion.

You know how when you read a series and you get attached to the characters you wonder about things. For me with this series it’s been mostly the friendship Colin, Josh, David, and Nate share. Throughout the series most of their interactions are during intense times. It shows their love and support but I wonder how they are during more lighthearted moments. The perks at it are nice but this right here gave me what I wanted. When they can reflect back on those moments and remember. In fact all of these help make their lives more realistic. My connection to these guys is that much stronger for it. Thank you Janice Jarrell for giving us what we wanted. Because let’s face it. Readers always want more and you deliver every time.

This is BEAUTIFUL. Romance, disagreements but always love. Colin and Josh cover all the important times of discovery and real pain. Through the help of their best friends David and Nate they stumbled through some tough times. This is a true love story. I felt like a fly on the wall. JANICE JARRELL crafts a story so that you feel every emotion, feel the breeze, smell the flowers. She puts you in the story, so that you don't miss a thing. This is the inside story of Josh and Colin. Colin's determination, showing his Irish and his stubbornness. Joshua's quiet understanding, his steady hand and his temper. Through it all their love for each other is the story. If you want to witness love in its truest form, you'll want to read this. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THE REVOLUTIONARY HEART SERIES!!!!!!

About the Author

I’ve been writing gay romance since I was twelve years old, only back then it wasn’t called ‘gay romance’. In fact, it had no name at all. It was the fifty’s, and it was worth your life to admit to being gay, let alone confess to being a girl who constantly fantasized about relationships between gay men.

For the next twenty years I wrote slash fanfiction, mainly in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ fandom. Overall, I wrote over 337 stories, some as short as 100 words (a drabble) some as long as a series which was over 119,012 words. I enjoy writing my stories. I enjoyed the feedback I received from my readers. It was a creative release I’d been searching for my entire life and I blessed the Internet for leading me to this artistic oasis for my spirit.

But after a while it just wasn’t enough. Writing stories about other people’s characters begin to grow tiresome and repetitive. My first book, Love’s Legacy, began as an AU fanfiction story. I wrote my fandom characters in an alternative universe simply to try to extend my reach. But it fell flat.

Love’s Magic was my very first step into writing my own characters.

I hope you’ll read Love’s Magic. I hope you’ll meet David and Nate… Colin and Joshua. These dynamic, sexy, and totally adorable men carried me into a whole new world of love, romance, joy, and happily-ever-after’s. I hope they’ll do the same for you.
