Balthamos is a bureaucrat in Immigration, a part of the governmental Hegemony. He's a werewolf utterly unremarkable other than his choice of life partner, Monarch. Monarch, a colorful vampire who takes center stage wherever he goes, lives with Balthamos in the suburbs of Santsz.
And then... rumors begin to spread of an illness come to be known as Wolfsbane. Lunids are reported to be Changing into werewolf form without any relationship to their two moons' influences. It doesn't take long for society to begin to unravel and conspiracy theories to point the finger at-- vampires.
Originally started as a lighthearted 'opposites attract' kind of story, but then 2020 happened.

This novella is definitely not my genre, but I read it out of curiosity as I heard about it from a friend. The author tucked enough hints into the narrative that I was able to “get” the lifestyles of werewolves and vampires, not previously in my knowledge bank. This book is an easy read into which serious issues of prejudice and a world, catastrophe are woven. The affection shown between the two main characters is very endearing.
