Ann Lister

Ann Lister is a native New Englander currently living in Florida with her husband. She has pulled details from her years living in the New England area and uses many local settings and landmarks in her novels.

After graduating art school, marrying, and raising two daughters, she established her own video production company. Her nearly two decades working in video production included work within the music industry and won her a coveted Telly Award. Her 'behind-the-scenes' exposure to the music world and her love of rock music is the inspiration for her erotic rock star romances.

The Rock Gods series gave her Bestselling Author status on Amazon. Beyond The Music, Book 7 in the series, reached #1 in Gay Erotica in the Pre-Order and held that spot for several weeks. The last book in the series launches the spin-off series, Guarding The Gods, which is releasing in early summer 2016.

Fall For Me, Book One in the series was a Finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Award. Each book in this series brings her two favorite elements together: musicians and the love between two men. These stories focus on what it truly means to love; love unconditionally, love without restrictions or labels, love without fear or judgment – to just simply love.

Summary: Brett “Rebel” Hart has never been one to abide by social norms, whether it’s professionally with his band, Rebel Heart, or in his private life. He’s had an ongoing relationship with his music collaborator for many years but never fully committed to him nor said those three all-important words. Now Rebel’s longtime love is gone, and he’s left picking up the pieces of his life while settling his friend’s estate. Jacob McKinney owns the local cafe. He knows who Rebel is the moment he walks into his restaurant and also knows why the famous musician is in town. They were formally introduced years ago, but he doubts Rebel remembers him, which is fine. Although Rebel and Jacob live in two very different worlds, there was one person who’s tied them together. John Kirby was a talented award-winning lyricist who worked with many musicians throughout his long career. Born with a heart defect, he made the most of his time, but in the end, left behind two very different men to process their loss. Kirby’s one wish was to bring Rebel, the only man who owned his damaged heart, and Jacob together somehow—first, as a way to help each other mourn, but then as a new opportunity at love. Can two grieving men find lasting love together and uncover the connection Kirby already knew existed between them? Dead men can’t talk, but their dreams can still come true—even from the beyond. Rebel Heart is a stand-alone rockstar romance with a slow burn, high emotions, grief/comfort, and an HEA. Author Note: This story has been re-released with a new title. No new content has been added with the exception of very minor changes made to the title and the name of the main character.

Summary: - Bisexual Discovery - First Love - Rockstar / Roadie - Stage fright / Anxiety - Low Angst / HEA Strung Tight is the 1st book in the multi-author Road To Rocktoberfest series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not stay and enjoy the whole show? If you like scorching tales of hot rock stars and the men who love them, then you’ll adore the untamed musicians of Rocktoberfest! What’s better than having your rock idol, Dagger Drummond be the mentor for your band? Having your band selected as one of the performing acts at the iconic music festival, Rocktoberfest. My band was about to step onto our first professional stage. We’d more than earned our spot in the lineup. We had the talent and Dagger groomed our stage swagger. All that was left was to wow the socks off of the audience. It should be easy, except I had major anxiety issues and it’s frowned upon when lead singers collapse on stage from panic attacks. Another detail adding to my anxiety level, I recently fell in love with a man. Imagine that, a straight guy falling for a dude. It’s the stuff stories are made of – and yet it’s my life. Rocktoberfest was supposed to be fun but our trip turned sour when my guy went AWOL. Now my concentration is shot and my is heart heavy thinking his absence might have more to do with him not wanting to be with me than missing the bus. One way or another, I had to give the performance of my career – regardless of what was going on inside my head or my heart.

Summary: I’m known as Lace around campus at the performing arts college I attend because I use lacy ribbons sometimes in my dance routines. I’d like to believe I’m unforgettable because I’m highly skilled in many forms of performance art, but I have a feeling it also has something to do with what I can do with my body. What do I mean? I’m very . . . bendy – a contortionist of sorts, which comes from many years of training and being able to control every muscle in my body. I began as a kid doing classical ballet then moved on to more contemporary dance like swinging on poles and my favorite, aerial rope performance. My goal after I complete college is to join a major dance trope and share my fluid grace with audiences around the world. The unexpected bonus to being this flexible? I bring self-pleasuring to a whole new level – and I do – often. My roommate, Brick learned this when he walked in on me the first day he stepped into our dorm room. Since then, I’ve been awakening things inside of him he hadn’t realized he craved – until me. Now we can’t keep our hands off of each other and we’ve created a whole new meaning behind pole dancing. Bending For Him, is Book 5 in the Illicit Heat Series. This is an erotic tale of approximately 12k words, low angst, an HEA, and no cliffhangers. This and all the titles in the Illicit Heat Series can be read as stand-alones.

Summary: Branson: I'm a guy who knows what he wants—whether it's a career goal or a man intriguing enough for me to give chase—once I have the prize in sight, I’m relentless in my pursuit. This has worked well for me over the years, more specifically, as the bass player of my band, Hard Core. I hear a bass line in anything the guys throw at me, then take those jumbled run of notes and turn it into something our fans will want to buy. I'm also a man who doesn't do messy or complicated, and I keep my emotions out of the game—until now. FDNY Lieutenant Sean Conley, one of New York's bravest, has ruined me for all others because I allowed myself to feel. Conley: I’m dedicated to putting my own safety aside and saving lives on a daily basis. Just don't ask me to be part of a concert crowd or I'll inevitably have a massive panic attack. Personal trauma pushed me into the closet and I was fine with this life—until rock star Branson Mink happened to cross my path at a fire scene. Worse yet, I think he knows what I'm hiding. Branson's hardly the type to be anyone's secret. Every aspect of his life plays out under the spotlight, while I prefer to keep mine hidden behind that closet door. I have always left parts of myself private, and now Branson has something to hide too. When our worst fears collide, I'm forced to put mine aside to save the man I love. Turns out, that was easy. The real challenge? Figuring out how to make this relationship work.

Summary: Blade: As the lead singer of Hard Core, I’ve been taught several key life lessons. Unfortunately, I've also ignored many of them in the last twenty minutes alone, which is why I'm now being chased by a hoard of crazed fans. But my worst misjudgment today? Going outside in public without security or a backup plan. Screaming fans come with the job and the fame is as much of a blessing as it is a curse, but I still couldn't imagine doing any other line of work. Music owns me and I am happy to be her bitch. Nico: I knew who he was as soon as he burst through the front door of my store and I was absolutely starstruck and speechless. Yes, me with my own hardened attitude and jaded outlook on life had lost the ability to talk in the presence of Blade. I'm an ex-con. I paid my debt to society, and I have my own brand of scars to show from the time I spent behind bars. My life's regrets stain my soul as much as the ink of my tattoos color my skin. Solace for me came with ownership of a bookstore. It was a peaceful place to work until a certain rockstar blew in from the street like a Category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Blade was about to make landfall and I wasn't sure I'd survive the storm.

Summary: Vance: He's angry and bitter over the direction his father has chosen for him in the family business – and in his life. He may have been born into money, but Vance always saw his journey as something less grand. He's desperate to follow his real passion which is metal sculpture, created with nothing more than scraps he pulls out of junk piles, a blow torch, and a sweat. But he lacks a critical element to make that happen: the spine to stand up to the man who moves him around like a pawn on a chessboard. He needs something – or someone to give him the motivational push to take back control of his life. Kyle: He's drifted through life with a massive chip on his shoulder. He doesn't mind being a city bike messenger, but he knows his body won't allow him to do that forever, and riding for a living isn't his calling in life. But with no clear plan B in place, he needs to keep his day job – for now. The other problem? He loathes the privileged people he delivers to, despises what they stand for, and how they look down at him as if he was worthless. The only thing more prominent than the grudge he holds against them is his pride. Everything changes when a company owner's son hits him with his car, which puts both rider and driver on entirely different paths in their lives. But is this a path they can both take together, or will egos and societal privilege create too many obstacles to overcome? Summary: It was on the suggestion of Christian's therapist that he spend more time outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and get a little exercise in the process. His family and friends were constantly harping on him to do the same. “Live a little and don't be afraid to take chances,” they said. “Life's a journey best enjoyed with a healthy dose of adrenaline,” others said. But their droning words of advice was exactly why he found himself walking around in circles—lost in the middle of an unfamiliar hiking park—east of Nowhere and a little south of Wherethehellami. The only human he'd managed to see in the last three hours, the one person who could possibly point him in the direction of his car, was a gorgeous man who preferred to do his hiking … naked. Who hiked around naked in the woods like that? Derek did, and he was about to show Christian exactly why hiking naked was the only way to experience the sport. In “Climbing The Longhorn,” Christian sets off for the hike of his life with Derek as his personal trail guide. Turns out, hiking naked up the Longhorn is just one of many erotic adventures Derek exposes him to that weekend, and the fresh air and exercise never felt so good. Summary: This is Tessler's private journal—the journal he’d used as a story outline when he penned his world famous Black Key Trilogy. The three-book set was semi-autobiographical by nature and closely followed the sexual awakening of a young Tessler as he grew into the man he's become today. The journal entries are emotional and incredibly personal as Tessler chronicled his journey as an inexperienced innocent, to an intrigued intern, and out the other side as an able-bodied man with decidedly different tastes than those from before he first stepped through the doors of The Black Key Club. Tessler guarded this journal and the secrets it held between the pages for years to protect himself from the possible judgment of others should the book ever be publicly exposed. Now, he wants to share his journal with you—on his own terms—before someone tries to take that power away from him. “The Black Key Journal” is a full-length erotic novel. It is a companion piece for “More Than My Words,” Book 3 in the Guarding The Gods Series. To better enjoy Tessler's journal, it is strongly suggested that you read Book 3 before you read this novel. There is a considerable amount of erotic content in this story with numerous adult MM sexual situations not meant for younger readers. Readers 18+ is strongly advised.

Summary: Mason Foxworth has spent the last several months recovering from injuries he received doing personal security while on tour during the horrific fire in Germany. He'd been hitting his stride professionally when he fell through the floor that night, and now his life had been reduced to weekly appointments with physical therapists and various doctors while everyone else around him seemed to have moved on. He felt useless and alone, and the worst part of it, the physical scarring left behind on his legs from the burns had ruined his self-esteem. Who would want him now, when he was so damaged inside and out and he had nothing much to contribute? He didn't have a lot of friends and his co-workers felt it was safer to keep Mason at a desk in the office doing paperwork, rather than out in the field doing security. Mason wanted to get that status changed before he lost the last threads of his sanity, and the main obstacle in his way was a bum leg that was taking far too long to heal. Tessler is an enigma in the sci-fi literary world. A young, reclusive author, known for the mystery swirling around him, he realizes he's lost any real joy in his life when he suddenly starts to feel the strange emotion pumping through his veins. Barely beyond the age of twenty-five and he's already made more money than most see in a lifetime, but Tessler feels empty within himself and also inside his two-story, meticulously renovated warehouse in the burbs of Los Angeles. What made him this way must remain the mystery it is, or he feels he'll lose the empire he's created. But meeting a man he feels could bring all his pieces together is challenging his reasons for anonymity and Tessler suddely finds himself wanting more from life and from himself. Mason wants his life back and Tessler is just looking to have a real life. Can two vastly different men find a way to smooth out their hard edges and blend their lives to offer the one ingredient neither has: love? Personal growth comes in many different shapes and Mason and Tessler have a mountain of it to climb in order to find their HEA.

Summary: For All The Right Reasons introduced Ben and Simon Gallo, the two brothers who together created what would become the legendary rock band Reckless. For every step towards glory which Ben took on their rise to fame, Simon's footsteps faltered along that same journey. Nothing he did seemed to measure up and it was one misstep after another, until Simon no longer knew the man he was looking at in the mirror. Substance abuse covered up his anger and far too many poor decisions to count concealed what he really wanted in his life: acceptance and self-love along with a meaningful and committed relationship with a soul mate. Beat Of His Own Drums is Simon's story, and gives insight to who Simon really is as a man and why he did the things he did to try and find his happiness. Everyone deserves a second chance at life and even at love, and Simon is ready for his. He's walked the walk and talked the talk, now Simon wants the world to know why he's always had to go through life using the beat from his own drums to guide him. This 31,000+ word M/M novella has an HEA ending, and is a follow-up story to For All The Right Reasons, M/F, which I would recommend reading first. These stories have now become a series, and a full-length novel will follow Beat Of His Own Drums, which will release in the future to continue Simon and Ben's story.

Looking At Forever – The Rock Gods Book 4

by Ann Lister

Mick Wheland, Ivory Tower's bad-boy guitarist, has recently realized two important things about himself. He prefers sex with men over women, and the idea of a committed relationship doesn't scare him as much as it once did. He's seen the positive effects of love from watching his band-mates find life partners, and now he's thinking he might be ready for the same himself. The problem is knowing where to look for Mr. Right, and living out of a suitcase while touring with a band is not exactly conducive to finding real love.

Sonny (Rooster) Roostarelli leaves the seclusion of his Vancouver cabin, where he went to lick his wounds after a contentious divorce, and moves back to Los Angeles. He claims relocating to L.A. is for business purposes, but now that the dust has settled on his failed marriage, Rooster feels he might finally be ready to settle down – with a man.

A chance encounter for Wheland and Rooster on a busy L.A. street rekindles an old friendship between the two professional musicians. Rooster needs a short-term place to stay and Wheland has plenty of extra space at his hillside estate and that lands Rooster in Wheland's guest room. What starts out as a music collaboration opportunity quickly turns personal when the chemistry they have becomes too strong to ignore and soon the music they're making spills from the studio and into the bedroom.

The road is a grueling bitch musicians love to hate. Being on stage under the hot lights can sometimes be the only place they feel comfortable and alive. Can two high-profile rock stars make a life together in such an artificial world – on and off the stage... or will past mistakes and family secrets keep them from finding their forever?

Climbing The Longhorn

Illicit Heat Book 2

by Ann Lister

It was on the suggestion of Christian's therapist that he spend more time outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and get a little exercise in the process.

The Illicit Heat Series is a brand new collection of short, erotic stories by Bestselling Author, Ann Lister. Each story in this series will be under 15,000 words and can be read as a stand-alone.

About The Book

Strung Tight is the 1st book in the multi-author Road To Rocktoberfest series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not stay and enjoy the whole show? If you like scorching tales of hot rock stars and the men who love them, then you’ll adore the untamed musicians of Rocktoberfest!

The Review

Sex, drugs and rock and roll are all in abundance in this book.

The first band preparing for their trip to Rocktoberfest is Chaos, mentored by Dagger Drummond of Black Ice. Dagger has taken an interest in making Chaos and their frontman, Harrison Fletcher (Fletch) a huge success, and is laying out all the money necessary to do that. Dagger will get reimbursed when Chaos has their first gold record.

Fletch and his best friend (brother by choice) Mike started the band that grew into Chaos with the addition of two more musicians. The only thing standing in the way of their great success is Fletch’s extreme fear whenever he’s in front of a huge group of people. His panic attacks could shut down everything they are working for, if one of them happens on the stage at Rocktoberfest. A dream and a nightmare face Fletch.

Fletch meets Dallas, one of the band’s roadies. Although Fletch has always assumed he was straight, meeting Dallas gets him to reconsider. Sex was never that important to him, and afterwards never that satisfying ,but it would seem that it wasn’t the sex – it was the gender.

Dallas is always able to calm Fletch down when he is beginning to lose it, but when the trip to Rocktoberfest starts Dallas is no where to be found.

When I began reading this book, I was trying to get my head around all the drugs – drugs to calm down, drugs to sleep and sex, sex, sex. As I continued to read, I realized that this book was probably close to reality, and that the rock world is as Ms. Lister described, so I had a whole new perspective on what was going on. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll are alive and well in this book.

This is the first in a series of seven, each written by a different author. Each book is a standalone, but if rock and roll is your passion then you’ll enjoy this series.

Four stars.

About The Book

For Maiden Voyage guitarist, Ryder Hampton, life is great. He and his bandmates are embarking upon an epic European double headlining tour with their friends from Social Sinners with the band Embrace the Fear opening for them.

Since joining Maiden Voyage in his twenties, Ryder’s life has been a whirlwind of the cliched, “Sex, drugs and monumental doses of Rock ‘n Roll. And he’s loved every minute of it from the sold out shows to the revolving door of bed partners.

Max Hightower has always been a team player. Whether it was working with his team in the Marines or now with the private security company, Ventura Security. These days, his job was to have the backs of a band of musicians. One band member in particular he’d allowed to get too close and now emotions were involved.

Ryder Hampton had left his mark on Max’s closed-off heart and now Max’s job was in jeopardy. Falling for your principal wasn’t safe – nor smart. Neither was missing the mark on protecting him and now Max was guilty of both. The security detail he’d begged his boss for had turned out to be the one that could ruin him and shatter his heart too. Max couldn’t allow either option to happen.

Maiden Voyage series must be read in order as each book starts where the last one ended but is from another band members point of view:

The Review

Rockers and their bodyguards that should be all you need to want to read this book, but I will give you more information to whet your appetite.

Ryder Hampton is the lead guitarist of a very popular rock band, Maiden Voyage, but his trip to success started out as low as a young man could go. A mother who was more interested in the next man rather than whether her son ate or not. Juvie, dropping out of school until a man at a music shop helped him. Ryder loved his guitar, it was a part of him and when Derek the lead singer of the new group Maiden Voyage heard him it was the end of the bad times and beginning of the good times.

Maiden Voyage is about to start a European tour and each member of the band had their very own bodyguard and Ryder’s was Max Hightower. The chemistry between Max and Ryder was obvious to everyone but Max had a job to do and it did not include have a personal relationship with his principal (the one he was in charge of guarding). Ryder did not make Max’s job easy when he was constantly trying to entice him but there was just so much Max could take before he finally did something about it.

Unfortunately he was found out by his boss Fizzbo who immediately put him in charge of another band member putting him out of reach of Ryder. Ryder was not willing to let that stop him and he actually decided to jump from balcony to balcony at their hotel to get to Max,and get to him he did.

There have been threatening letters, emails and calls all of them apparently aimed at Ryder so security was very tight. Even as Max watched over another band member he couldn’t keep from watching over Ryder as well. From early childhood Ryder never believed that anyone could love him or want to stay with him and as his feelings for Max grow he is convinced that it will just lead to heartache. He has no idea that Max is feeling the same way.

If you love rock n roll, if you love sexy bodyguards then I would run–not walk–to get this book. Celebrity is wonderful but filled with danger from the fans that supposedly love you, and this book shows just how scary it can be.

This is the first book in the series and the series should be read in order because the next book picks up where the previous book ends, but I do not mean to suggest that it is a cliffhanger because it isn’t.

Wonderful characters, and I mean characters in every sense of the word! Sex, lots and lots of sex and some heartache.

1 – Ryder’s Guardian
2 – Derek’s Destiny
3 – Jaxson’s Nemesis
4 – Shadow’s Light

The Review

Ryder’s Guardian is the first book in the Maiden’s Voyage anthology series, with each entry in the series focusing on a different member of the Maiden’s Voyage rock band. Book 1 focuses on Ryder, the lead guitarist of the band, and his intense relationship with bodyguard Max Hightower.

The band Maiden Voyage is on a worldwide tour, and they are taking a security team with them. Max Hightower takes his job seriously and does it well, so naturally he is thrown in for a loop when Ryder – the ‘brat’ of the band whose life has been about sex, drugs, rock’n’roll, and a revolving door of sexual partners since he joined Maiden Voyage – spontaneously kisses him after a performance. So begins the two men’s intense attraction and draw to each other. Max has a job to do but he finds himself torn between professionalism and his burning desire for Ryder, while Ryder – who has a difficult past and has always avoided commitment – can’t stop wanting Max in return.

Band-romance is a new sort of sub-genre for me that I decided to take a chance on, and it was definitely an interesting experience. I am usually more drawn to fantasy/sci-fi, so this was certainly a departure from the norm – but one I was pleased to try out. I read Ryder’s Guardian very quickly. It has an easy style and a seductive fast pace, and it was an overall enjoyable read. The authors have done a phenomenal job of weaving their styles together, to the point where it really does feel like it was written by one voice for the alternating first-person POV chapters.

Because this sub-genre is new to me, I don’t know much about the (cutthroat?) world of rocker bands and the dangers involved going in, so I wasn’t sure how much to buy into the level of protection offered to Maiden Voyage or how much disbelief to suspend for the setting and circumstances the band and characters get into. Nonetheless, it served as a decent set-up for Ryder and Max to meet and fall in lust at first sight.

I appreciated the normalised queerness of the setting and loved how the dynamics between the band members were full of natural friendship chemistry. I did find it odd that there were absolutely no female characters in the book at all. Aside from Ryder’s neglectful and abusive mother, the book gives the impression that women either don’t exist or are not worth mentioning, which was a shame. I think a few named female characters in the background would have made this a more dynamic world, and on a personal level, would have helped me differentiate between the numerous side- characters… I kept on getting all of the “he’s” all mixed up until about halfway through the book!

I did feel that Ryder was far too immature for an adult, but there is a backstory to explain his personality. I wasn’t always sure what the emotional draw was between Ryder and Max – but the sexual chemistry between them was so raw and intense that I absolutely bought their intense physical attraction. The romance and love scenes are where this book shines. The sex scenes between Ryder and Max were extremely well-written – full of heat and crackling sexual chemistry.

I don’t personally understand what Ryder found so endearing about the pet-name “brat”…but he seemed to like it, and by the end, I was just happy for him and Max to have earned their HEA together.

If you like hot guys, boy bands, tough bodyguards, and bit of action amidst the smut, then you’ll have a fun time with Ryder’s Guardian

Make You Mine, The Rock Gods Book 3

by Ann Lister

Cooper Rand is the high-energy drummer for his band Ivory Tower. Everyone is drawn to Cooper; which makes him the go-to party guy for those lucky enough to call him friend. He loves the lifestyle that comes along with being a rock star and feels perfectly suited for the role. He is also a professional when it comes to the hook-up, unwilling to stick around long enough to allow emotions to enter into what he's doing. He's lived his entire life 'in the moment' and it isn't until he meets Jayson that he begins to question the direction of his life and if he's been missing out on something truly special all this time.

Jayson Keller has spent most of his life living on the island of Martha's Vineyard working as a builder. Living on a small island also has Jayson working overtime to keep his sexual orientation secret. He has mastered the art of hiding in the closet, but he doesn't want it to be a forever thing. Jayson always said if the right man came along he'd happily leave the safety of his closet and live openly as a gay man. The problem is, living where he does limits his partner options and finding someone worth coming out of that closet for seems an unlikely prospect.

A party at Alex Metcalf's island estate brings Cooper and Jayson face-to-face. Lightning strikes hot and fast and suddenly their lives take a whole new path. Has Jayson finally met a man worth leaving his self-imposed closet? Have a couple of hours spent alone with Jayson opened Cooper to the idea there is a deeper meaning to life beyond the stage and the value of a committed relationship? But, a bigoted family and the rock star lifestyle could ruin everything and keep both men searching for what was standing right in front of them: a soul mate.
