Callum Fitz, bassist of the chart-topping band Warrior Black, is no stranger to the spotlight—even if he’d rather avoid it. The Review
Callum is in love with Dom and Pen, two of the bodyguards for his band, Warrior Black. However, he is also in denial.
Dom and Pen have an established relationship and want to include Callum. However, Dom is reticent about his past and is making Pen distrust him.
Into this somewhat fragile three way relationship, the author introduces serious problems that stem from other actors, including Callum’s father and Dom’s previous job. The action is constant and gripping, as are the concerns of the three characters.
The action is almost too relentless at times, but the evolving relationship is interesting. I gather the whole band and all their staff reached Rocktoberfest without further incident and wowed their listeners.
I enjoy the Rocktoberfest books and I liked this one, although I would have liked a little more about the band and their material. The one song Callum wrote was interesting (and it would have been nice to hear it set to music).
The story is told from all three points of view. There is a happy ending but it is not easily achieved, and there is turmoil, plus danger and injury on the way.

I’ve been doing book reviews on my website, crossposted or linked to various social media, for a few years. I read a number of genres but I really enjoy all kinds of speculative fiction so thought I’d like to share my views with you. I love sci fi and other speculative fiction because of the way it can, at its best, make us see ourselves in a new light. Quite apart from the exciting stories, of course! I used to be an English teacher, and I’m a writer (fantasy) so I can be quite critical about style etc. but I hope I can also appreciate properly some books that don’t appeal to me personally but might be simply perfect for others. I have, obviously, read widely, and continue to do so.
