About The Book

Book three in The Devil’s in the Details series

Power corrupts… Sometimes it can be petrifying.

In the upcoming council elections of the rural town where he lives, Jason is working as assistant to his cousin Neil, a man who’s as narcissistic as he is ambitious.

Almost running into Morena, the fortune teller from the visiting fair, Neil is able to turn the situation to his advantage and look good in the small community by offering free seats to the fair’s big top.

Paranormal detective Garen begins an investigation into a death where the victim is turned to stone and finds an unlikely ally in the victim’s housekeeper, Chloris Webling, a woman with powers of her own. However, when they are attacked by something that kills with fang and claw, Garen needs the help of his husband Luke.

Against his cousin’s wishes, Jason begins a relationship with Anaru, the nephew of one of Neil’s competitors. Jason’s concerned that not only might Neil discover his deception and sack him, but also about the infected bite on Neil’s forehead, which seems to be getting worse and making Neil more prone to furious outbursts than normal.

Luke comes to believe that the strange growth on Neil’s forehead is a manifestation of the evil eye of the demon Balor and that the fortune teller is using Neil as a vessel for the demon.

When the battle begins, it pits Garen and his forces against Madam Morena and her deadly familiar, while Luke and Chloris track down Neil to prevent the demon from using him as a gateway into the human world.

The Review

Another wonderful story about evil and the two men who always come to the rescue, Detective Inspector, Garen Warnock and his husband Luke who together fight the good fight. This time they will have their hands full and may not come out the winners.

Neil is running for Council in a small town with his eye on running the country one day. He is egotistical, without empathy and power hungry. Jason who is Neil’s cousin is working for him during his campaign earning money to save the family farm. Even as a relative James is not immune to Neil’s cruel ways. Everything that happens occurs due to an incident where Neil pumps into a woman on the street and is less than polite about it. The woman is Madam Morena, Lady of Mystery at the fair in town, a lady who immediately spots a power hungry man she can manipulate. An offer of a free reading and a chance at a publicity event at the fair is all Neil needs to take her up on her offer.

Garen and Luke are brought into it when a man also running for Council is found dead, actually he is found petrified and his body is stone. There is no doubt that evil is at work and no doubt that there will be other deaths. The dead man was the mayor and now Neil gets his chance at running for not only the Council but for mayor as well. Men running against Neil seem to come up dead and there is no doubt that the attacks are demonic.

James notices a mark on Neil’s forehead which each time he looks gets bigger, he also notices that Neil visits Madam Morena more and more and his popularity goes from zero to hero overnight. James is a wonderful man putting up with his cousin in the hopes of saving his family farm and Neil uses him like he uses everyone else. James meets and falls in love with the nephew of one of Neil’s opponents so now both James and his new lover Anaru are in the demons’s sights.

Each book in this series is a stand-alone but you would be missing out on learning all about Garen and Luke two amazing men whose love for each other is what love stories and poems are written about. They discover who is responsible for the deaths but sometimes evil is not always easy to totally wipe out in spite of every effort. There is explicit sex, edge of the seat suspense and a battle between good and evil. I can’t recommend this series highly enough.
