Lornyc Reagalos has claimed his place as High Lord of Katraman and Liege of Scura, and he expects opposition, not devotion. So when a religious order called the Cerulean Cult proclaims him the One, he knows reverence is rarely without a price.

The price is revealed during the cult’s Sanctification Ceremony, when a priest presents the orb that anchors Lornyc’s magic, then shatters it. The breach frees an unknown entity and tears open the fabric between dimensions. The Valen Council, arbiters of the worlds, give Lornyc a single command: find the entity, or lose his life.

To survive, Lornyc must cross unfamiliar worlds where power and titles mean nothing. Only trust endures. At his side is his husband, Methian, his true love, who is steady through shifting ground and breaking realities, and the only one close enough to pull Lornyc back when magic threatens to tear him apart.

As the hunt closes in, Lornyc learns the cost of failure has always been higher than death. His fate is not owned by a cult, a council, or prophecy, but losing would strip him of autonomy, future, and the life he is desperate to protect. The unknown does not ask whether he is strong enough to face it, only whether he is willing to lose everything that makes survival worthwhile.
