About The Book

Dominic Vale is used to winning. Power. Respect. Control. But all of that begins to unravel when he breaks his own rules for one man — Theo Marlowe, the sharp-witted artist who sees past Dominic’s polished exterior and straight through to the chaos beneath.

Now, in the aftermath of The Billionaire’s Game, Dominic and Theo are together… but not unscathed.

As secrets from Dominic’s past surface and the dangerous underworld of elite auctions begins to circle once more, the empire he’s spent a lifetime building is on the brink of collapse. And Theo — blazing, brave, heartbreakingly honest — is the one thing Dominic can’t afford to lose.

But love in the shadows comes with a price. And some lines, once crossed, leave nothing standing.

The Review

After The Fall is part three of a Power and Possessions trilogy within the Private Encounters series that has two main characters plus two important secondary characters. This follows Dominic and Theo, as they make space and time for each other beyond the seven days decided upon at the auction in The Billionaire Game. And that’s one of the things that’s a potential threat to their rocky relationship – because it is rocky.

Dominic has been closed off to the world other than when it comes to business deals, mergers and take overs. He does not do feelings, other than in the confines of whatever bed the two are sharing. He likes his privacy and tries to walk through life invisibl,e or at least unknowable. If people do not know he’s there until he’s ready, then that suits him fine. The problem with having Theo in his life is that he is no longer invisible, as those involved in the running of the secret auction are watching him and Theo. Dominic has changed his behavioural pattern and they don’t like change. Not knowing what to expect threatens them.

It seems Dominic isn’t too pleased about the changes to his life and he is unsettled as a result. His interactions with Theo become strained, and they could be on the verge of breaking up. It is at this stage that some of the darkness from Before The Game (book one of the trilogy) rears its ugly head. What Dominic had discovered about the auction lots in his research and searches is about to become relevant to Theo’s well being. How Dominic responds to the threat is what is going to be important to his and Theo’s continued relationship.

Dominic has to take action, and in this he has the support of his PA, Alice. She has been through everything with him although he does not think of her as a friend, a friend she is.

We do get a sort of resolution, and Dominic and Theo get to continue their rocky relationship / journey with possibly fewer obstructions in their future. There are still questions to ask and assumptions to make, but that’s part of the game when it comes to Moore’s writing. You end up intrigued or unnerved – both in my case. It seems I might be hooked!

Tony is an Englishman living amongst the Welsh and the Other Folk in the mountains of Wales. He lives with his partner of thirty-six years, four dogs, two ponies, various birds, and his bees. He is a retired lecturer and a writer of no renown but that doesn’t stop him enjoying what he used to think of as ‘sensible’ fantasy and sf. He’s surprised to find that if the story is well written and has likeable characters undergoing the trails of life, i.e. falling in love, falling out of love, having a bit of nooky (but not all the time), fending off foes, aliens and monsters, etc., he’ll be happy as a sandperson who has just offloaded a wagon of sand at the going market price. As long as there’s a story, he’s in. He aims to write fair and honest reviews. If he finds he is not the target reader he’ll move on.
