About The Book

No Witness. No Clues. No Capitulation.

It’s no mystery why this is the best Lesson in Murder yet!
Four days before the election, a local judge running for Congress is killed outside his house, thrusting Lieutenant Detective Jenna Ferrari into a high-profile investigation. Motives and suspects abound, yet without witnesses, a murder weapon, or other conclusive evidence, confirming who did it proves daunting.

On the home front, Jenna and Randi are trying for a baby. Randi’s first OBGYN doctor’s appointment will confirm if she’s pregnant. While overjoyed with the prospect, Jenna worries about her mother’s reaction, how much it could cost to raise a child, and all the dangers involved.

After wading through a troop of persons of interest in the case, Jenna’s gut tells her who the murderer is, except for the ironclad alibi. Can Jenna and her team find proof of who killed the judge and how they did it, or will the culprit get away with murder?

The twisty, astonishing plot of this impossible-to-prove crime will keep you guessing while Jenna and Randi face the challenges of bringing a new life into the world. Whether you love watching a couple grow in their relationship or can’t resist a compelling “howdunit,” this realistic, sapphic mystery will captivate you from the first word to the last.

The Review

Jenna and Randi have taken one big step, and now have taken another. Randi is dealing with their pregnancy, and they are trying to keep it a secret. They are taking all the precautions before they tell anyone, but hope and pray that they can reveal it soon. For Jenna, Randi is priority number one. Of course, Byron and Bandit are keeping an eye on Randi too.

There are still lot’s of doubts and thoughts with bringing a new person into their lives.  Jenna will always worry about religion, and how her mother will react, as there has always been friction between them. Randi is the logical one, and helps makes sense out of it all for Jenna.  There’s also fun discussions about the cost of bringing up a child, names and lots of sweet moments between the two women.

For Lt. Detective Jenna Ferrari, it’s work as usual, but not with the usual result. She has her first “kill” as Detective, and it doesn’t help her mood. It weighs on her, as it was something she thought she would never have to deal with. But going home to Randi always gives her a special sense of comfort.

But there’s more trouble to come when Captain Myers informs her that Judge Lester Hamden has been murdered. This is a big case, and Chief Joe Clarkson wants as many available officers on this case as possible. Hamden was a very high profile judge and politician.

All of Ferrari’s Roanoke PD team get involved in the investigation of what looks like a professional hit.  They have to look into all possible enemies and suspects, and Jenna needs all the man-power  she can get. Especially since, her best tech guy, Nathan Bauman has moved on to be with his boyfriend, Mario. Luckily for Ferrari, Capt. Myers has brought in the “boy wonder” Tyrelle Hendrix, an electronics and internet specialist, and he’s full of surprises.

Randi is still dealing with “evening sickness,” but she tries to stay active, and still goes to Sensei Yoshito Moro’s dojo. Both Sensei and his son Kenji Moro show great concern in her health.  Even though she’s healthy, she’s not allowed to jog, and now it seems she needs to slow down on the karate too. Maybe it’s all for the best.

As for Ferrari and the hard working RPD team, they are dealing with a mystery in trying to find the killer, and worse evidence is very hard to come by. But Ferrari has a hunch when she meets the late Judge’s competition. Will Ferrari and the team dig their heels in and be able to gather up some solid evidence to find a cold blooded killer?

Edale Lane has penned another twisted mystery in Alibi for Murder, book twelve in the “Lessons in Murder” series.  Once again the Roanoke PD will have to put all their experience and investigation skills into working a crime that is impossible to solve. The team is back:  Capt. Myers, Owen, Jamison, Officers Murphy and Stone, Dr. Valentine, Dr. Gupta, CSI Wilcox, ADA Bennet Altman and Dr. Jane Grayson.  Although, it saddens me for Ethan Bauman to leave, he has a great replacement in Tyrelle Hendrix.  He’s a young and intelligent black man, and has the team on their toes with his skills. It will be fun to see what he brings to the next mystery.

I highly recommend Alibi for Murder. It’s a complex mystery that showcases how the RPD team works together to investigates the crime. Lane is so talented when it comes to creating complex crimes. She never misses a beat – her stories are interesting, from the crime itself to the personal lives of those who work beside Jenna Ferrari – her chosen family. I can’t wait to see what Edale Lane has up her sleeve next for Jenna and Randi!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
