About The Book

A playboy rocker running from commitment fears he might lose the sweet cinnamon roll he’s been dating. When an ex comes around pointing out flaws, can the rocker change his tune?

Noah Harris

I love a rockstar. It’s not easy, but most of the time he makes it worth it.

Afterall, I was the one who agreed to a semi-open relationship when he’s on the road without me.

As the band gets more and more popular, it’s impossible to ignore the images of him with groupies on social media.

When my ex meets up with me to apologize and points out Wells’ indiscretions, how can I continue to deny the commitment I need?

Wells Tollefson

Commitment means one thing, or maybe two—loss of freedom and complication.

I don’t want either.

I saw what it did to my mother when my jerk of a father tried to dominate her life.

Noah wants me to meet his parents. But with our current situation, what will they think of me?

Now his ex wants to see him, and I have to let him go. My friends tell me I might lose him, and it hurts.

So, I try to open up to him. At the same time, I’m caught in a family crisis and I need Noah by my side.

Is it time to face the music and let my heart lead the way?

Loose Strings is part of the multi-author The Road to Rocktoberfest 2023 series and is a sequel to the novel, Not Alone. Kick back, load up your kindle and enjoy the men of Rocktoberfest!

Trigger warning: This book contains the past death of a parent and talk of a partially-open relationship(not on page).

The Review

Wells Tollefson is the bassist for the band Swarm, and has a fear of commitments. Unfortunately, his boyfriend Noah is a man who needs commitment, but he loves Wells and is hoping things will change. Wells’ best friend and bandmate, Ash, was in a relationship with Wells befre – they grew up together, and Ash thought he loved Wells, at least until he met Micah. It was Micah who introduced Noah to Wells.

Noah love Wells enough to let him sleeping around while on tour, but only with women. Still, it hurts him dearly. Now the band is done touring for a while, and Noah has taken a week off to stay with Wells while he is home. The only thing Noah asks of Wells is to finally meet his parents, something that Wells is afraid to commit to. It feels like a very serious step he isn’t willing to take just yet.

For the first time, Wells and Noah get to be with each other 24/7. Wells starts to have feelings that he doesn’t know how to deal with. Noah gives in to anything Wells wants, and keeps waiting for him to show those feelings – to prove that their relationship is not just about sex.

Micah and Ash do their best to get Wells to open up and let Noah in, but his fear is real. Wells’ father was a terrible person and made his mother’s life a living hell. Even after his mother left his father, their dysfunctional relationship had damaged him – he finds it hard to accept that love can be lasting and healthy.

Little by little, Wells takes everyone’s advice to heart and begins to let Noah in, expressing his feelings and revealing some of his past. Wells sees first-hand what it’s like to have someone you care about. always there for you, whether it is for sex or just love and comfort. He knows his feelings for Noah are unlike anything he has ever felt before, even when he was with Ash, but he has convinced himself that he is incapable of love.

Wells gets bad news that changes everything. He learns about secrets that totally shake him up, but in a surprising and good way. Noah’s ex-boyfriend, who walked out on him a year before without so much as a goodbye, reaches out to him and although Noah is hesitant, he feels that he needs closure. Instead, he ends up questioning whether Wells is right for him.

With Rocktoberfest coming up, there’s a lot that Wells must come to terms with. He worries that he is losing Noah. Is it too late to realize what he would be losing?

This book is the sequel to Not Alone, Ash and Micah’s story. Although I haven’t read it yet, I am sure it is wonderful, because I fell in love with the two of them.

Two men from totally different backgrounds and careers come together with a chance of a HEA, but only if one of them can overcome his fear and open his heart to love.

5 Stars.

“Road to Rocktoberfest 2023” is a multi-author series, and I highly recommend reading them all – they’re full of rockers, sex, surprises and love.
