About The Book

Omega Adam and Alpha Matt have been best friends all their lives. Matt has been there for Adam from his first heat. They’ve never been apart and Adam has never considered being with another person. So, it confuses Matt when Adam refuses to allow Matt to bite and pair with him.

Adam has seen for himself what happens when an alpha leaves his paired omega, when his mother went through the excruciating pain of a new alpha bite. Knowing his best friend as well as he does, he knows that if Matt ever bit and paired with him, Matt would never leave and consign Adam to the pain of a new bite or a life without sex. But Adam knows that it wouldn’t matter how Matt felt, he’d stay even if he felt trapped by the situation, making them both miserable and hurting Matt badly.

When Adam finds himself pregnant with Matt’s baby, he panics. All his attempts to keep Matt from getting trapped have been useless. With no idea what to do, he ends up hurting Matt anyway. If he doesn’t come to terms soon with his fears, he could find himself completely alone and losing the only person he’s ever loved.

The Review

In this new series we see Grace R. Duncan’s version of an Omega universe. Adam and Matt are both figuring out where they fit in the world, and more importantly, to each other in this first book. I found myself a little irritated with both of these young men. And then I reminded myself that these were two young boys, really. They were newly graduated from high school and starting college so I re-evaluated their behaviors and the book on the whole as more of a YA/NA type book.

There is sex on every page so it doesn’t fit the genre but the motivations and responses of the characters are very much in keeping with that age group.  It was overall a sweet romance, with the main issues being communication and maturity.  It was very different from the other books I have read from Duncan in terms of this.

I love the writing style so I will pick up the next one to see how it develops if it continues as a series.

The Reviewer

In writing this bio I am taking a rare break from reading! I always have a book on hand just in case there is time to sneak in a chapter or two. As a military spouse and a mom of two boys, it is amazing how often I am hurrying up to wait. Luckily for me I don’t have a favorite genre so I get lots of fun authors to choose from. My education was in sociology and mental health counseling, so stories with strong character development are my favorites. Happily Ever After is the best part of romance for me because real life is hard enough.
