Who needs a relationship, anyway? They’re just for suckers who love getting their hearts broken. Gabe Johnson has a track record to prove how little they mean to him. Married and divorced in one year doesn’t come across as ‘relationship’ material. Nor does a history of one-nightstands. Nor does having crappy ties with your family - y’know, the one bond that was supposed to be easy. Not that his overly religious mother helped with that… Wait, that’s off topic.
Anyway, so what if he literally ran into some hot foreigner and his whole world suddenly got turned upside down? It doesn’t mean anything. They’re both men. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, he was just pretty sure he was straight. Right? No. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t mean anything. The instant attraction between them is just a fluke. It doesn’t. Mean. Anything.

But what if it does?

Chasing after straight boys was a one-time mistake. It wasn’t going to happen again. Axel Stryker knew what he wanted when he came back to the States to finish up schooling. Study under his dad, work his butt off to finish school in the next four years, become a dentist. Nowhere on that list did it say fall in love with a straight guy. Questioning guy. Whatever the hell he was. Sure, that quick run-in a year ago had sparked an electric response in him. But that was all it had been. A spark. They weren’t supposed to see each other again. They weren’t supposed to become something more.
And yet here they were. A year later and the flame was still burning. Logically, he knew he should have flushed it the moment he felt that warmth in his heart. But here’s the thing about hearts: they don’t think.

They feel.

Gabe tilted just his head back so he was gazing at the Aussie upside down. His lower lip was pouting out and the blush had extended up to his ear lobes.

Axel quickly sucked in a breath and almost stumbled himself. God, if Gabe kept looking at him like that, he wouldn't be able to control himself. He managed to get them both out the entrance door without any trouble. The parking lot had more cars in it. A few groups of people smoking cigarettes socialized outside. The sun had already set, and the night sky stretched a clear blanket of stars above them. Axel didn't remove his hand from Gabe's back as he steered him in the direction of his car.

"Wait, what about my car?" Gabe legitimately sounded confused.

"I am not letting you drive, you idiot," Axel softly knuckled him in the head. He saw he was still holding his phone and, after glancing around to see if anyone was looking, he slipped it into the back pocket of Gabe's shorts. "Don't forget your phone."

Gabe's whole body froze, making Axel run into him. The movement caused not only the Aussie's hand to press firm against his arse, but his whole front side nestled into Gabe's back. Gabe's arms instinctively reaced out and his hands slammed on top of Axel's car to steady them both.

Axel breathed in so sharply, his chest hurt. His pulse spiked and his brain short circuited. All other stimuli blasted out of his mind except the hard body he was clasped against. He could feel Gabe breathing heavy into his chest and saw his arms trembling slightly on top of the hood.

Don't do anything stupid, don't do anything stupid, don't do anything stu-

Axel's body betrayed him, starting with his hand. It groped the butt cheek it had a hold of and he leaned further into Gabe's back, bringing his face to the nape of his neck. His quick breath blew at blonde locks and he gritted his teeth. "You're going to have to stop me if you don't want this to go any further."

He felt Gabe draw in a breath. "Exactly how much is further?"

Axel blew hot air out of his mouth, less than half an inch away from Gabe's flesh. "Guess we'll find out."

About the Author

Christine Anne grew up in a small central Wisconsin town, where reading was mandatory to keep from losing her mind. Though she enjoys all genres, her first love will always be MM romance. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, she moved to a slightly bigger town, just slightly west of her original home, that ended up being just slightly less redneck. She lives there with her partner Jake and her asshole of a cat, Walnut. She would probably die without coffee in her life. Spark is her first novel.
