Seafoam and Salt Water Taffy

by Layla Dorine

Is five months into a relationship too soon to take his boy and his pup on a kink cruise to the Caribbean?

Maybe.

Only Duncan couldn’t resist proposing it to them and letting them decide. The pair have been together for almost a decade and friends for even longer. The bond between them is strong and unshakeable and yet they’ve always longed for a Daddy to come along and love them as fiercely as they love one another. As far as Duncan is concerned, that is the very definition of what he has to offer them.

Ember: lively, little, and completely non-verbal, he was born without the ability to speak, but that doesn’t mean he holds back when he’s passionate about something. Using sign language and a text to speech device, he helps ease the fears of those who visit the reptile and amphibian sanctuary he works at and educate them on the misunderstood animals.

Rusty: fierce yet vulnerable, trapped in a job he hates, he wars with himself about the things he wants versus expectations. He longs to spend his days creating the things he envisions, not doors and window frames, but with no clear path towards making that happen, he’s been spinning his wheels in a place that’s sent his mental health spiraling.

The cruise seems the perfect way to spend his hard-earned vacation days, and if he should happen to find some of the answers he’s been searching for on the high seas with his Daddy and their boy, then that’s the shimmer on the lollipop.

The big, purple, phallic shaped lollipop they intend to use to enhance their fun.

Excerpt:

“Daddy?”

“Yes?”

“How can they have a Titanic 2?” Ember signed. “Do they raise the ship and repair it only for it to sink again, or do they name another ship Titanic only to find out the name is cursed?”

“I…hmmm,” Daddy murmured. “Either option, I guess. We might have to make that one a priority so we can find out.”

“Only if it doesn’t mess up something else, Daddy,” Ember signed. “Movies are for anytime.”

“You’re right, and I know you’re looking forward to the Little’s Bakery Bash tonight.”

“So much! Me and Christian will have so much fun while you and Rusty and Mr. Robertson are at the caning demonstration,” Ember signed. “Are you really going to paint my butt with pretty stripes when I disobey you?”

“I notice that you said when and not if,” Daddy replied, giving his wet hair a gentle tug. “Why is that?”

“Because no little boy is a good little boy all the time,” Ember signed.

“You can bet your bottom about that.”

“Isn’t that what I will be doing? Betting my bottom if I decide to be naughty?”

“Yup.”

“Then you are gonna make my bottom look like zebra print.”

“Only after I learn how to do it properly, so it doesn’t injure you,” Daddy explained. “While I want every time you sit down to remind you of whatever naughty thing you did, I also want to make certain that it’s a small owie and not a big one because a big one would mean that Daddy and Rusty wouldn’t be able to play with you.”

“I wouldn’t like that at all, Daddy.”

“Neither would we,” Daddy explained. “So…you may have stripes when you mess up, but only once Daddy and Rusty are confident in their ability to administer them the right way, but we will both be very upset if you choose to do something naughty to get stripes instead of letting us know what you’d like the proper way. Promise you’ll remember that?”

“I promise.”

About the Author

LAYLA DORINE lives among the sprawling prairies of Midwestern America, in a house with more cats than people. She loves hiking, fishing, swimming, martial arts, camping out, photography, cooking, and dabbling with several artistic mediums. In addition, she loves to travel and visit museums, historic, and haunted places.

Layla got hooked on writing as a child, starting with poetry and then branching out, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. Hard times, troubled times, the lives of her characters are never easy, but then what life is? The story is in the struggle, the journey, the triumphs and the falls. She writes about artists, musicians, loners, drifters, dreamers, hippies, bikers, truckers, hunters and all the other folks that she’s met and fallen in love with over the years. Sometimes she writes urban romance and sometimes its aliens crash landing near a roadside bar. When she isn’t writing, or wandering somewhere outdoors, she can often be found curled up with a good book and a kitty on her lap.
