Cyrus Winters, an omega wolf and an ice mage is dangerous to others. After running away from his birth pack at an early age, Cyrus traveled from place to place in hopes of finding a pack that would accept him. But once they realized that he was no ordinary omega wolf, they quickly turned their backs on him. Alone and shunned as a monster, Cyrus has kept himself hidden at the top of the Wichita Mountains where nobody would reach him. That is, until he hears the song of his fated mate.

Dorian Lovell once had the family he’d always dreamed of, but after the death of his son, his whole world fell apart. When he begins having dreams about a white wolf at the top of a mountain, howling for him, Dorian realizes that he may have found his fated mate. Joining his friend Tobias’ pack in the Wichita Mountains, Dorian sets out to find the wolf from his dream; but once he meets Cyrus, he quickly realizes that mating with the frosty omega won’t be as easy as he thought it’d be.

An omega with a heart of ice, and an alpha who’s destined to thaw him out. With a threat to Cyrus’ life approaching, the two must learn to come together as one. Can Dorian’s pack accept the gifted omega, and can Cyrus trust his life and future to his new pack, and the alpha the fates paired him with?

Excerpt:

Lifting my snout in the air, I took a big whiff. Inhaling the spearmint fragrance that was calling for me as loudly as the howling had. Taking a deep breath, I looked up to the sky and cried to the heavens. My matesong. Seconds later, the returning melody harmonized with mine, building into a crescendo.

My mate's here.

I shifted back to my human form, my bare feet digging into the thick snow, and I instantly regretted it because I was naked, and the cold was intense.

"Hello?" I called out. "Are you here? Please, show yourself!"

No response other than the sounds of my own echo. The atmosphere was so thick with fog, I could barely see my hands held up in front of me. My skin tickled as the light snowflakes fluttered from the sky and landed on my naked flesh.

“Hello?” I shouted again. “Is anyone out there?”

The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end, and I turned and looked up to see what I had come up the mountain for. The gorgeous white wolf that I had seen for months in my dreams, stood at the peak. His shiny blue eyes looking down right at me.

"I came to see you," I said. "We need to talk."

The wolf started backing up out of sight, and for a moment, I thought he was leaving me without talking. Before I could say anything, I saw the wolf run toward the edge of the cliff he once stood on and take a giant leap.

My alpha instincts were on alert, and I panicked at the sight of my mate literally jumping off the mountain top. He could die.

The wolf dove down toward me with no trace of fear. My eyes widened as I saw the wolf somersaulting, shifting to his human form in mid flip, before landing on the soft snow on his hands and one knee. Puffs of snow exploded around him as he landed, decorating his pale skin.

I stood there, slack-jawed and in awe, at the now naked human who was kneeling in front of me. I had never seen a wolf shift so instantaneously before, much less doing so in such style. It was remarkable.

My heart raced as the omega opened his eyes and slowly rose to his feet, giving me my first look at his human counterpart. He looked to be at least in his twenties. His frame was much smaller compared to mine, but he had some tight muscle definition. His skin looked pale and smooth as silk. Pale blond hair that looked nearly as white as the snow that surrounded him. His crystal-blue eyes pierced my gaze, making my body shiver.

"Who are you?" the Omega asked.

My throat tightened at the sound of his soft, airy voice.

Gulping, I said, "I-I'm Dorian Lovell. Can I ask your name?"

The Omega watched me with narrowed eyes, but then replied with, "Cyrus Winters. What's an alpha like you doing here, Dorian? You have no business being here."

Cyrus Winters. His name is Cyrus.

"I had to see you," I said, as I slowly stepped closer to him, reaching a hand out feeling the need to touch the beautiful young man who was my mate. "I know this may sound strange and sudden, but I –"

My voice trailed off as Cyrus gripped the wrist of my stretched hand, and I winced as sheets of ice began to form from under Cyrus' contact, slowly coating my hand and up my arm.

I don't like being touched by alphas," Cyrus growled, as his frosty grip tightened.

I cried in pain, dropping to my knees as I felt my hand and arm freezing solid. Cyrus had powers, ice powers. How was that possible?

The chill crept inside my body. I could feel my organs freezing, and I was losing air fast. I couldn't even beg for mercy. I had only just met my mate, and already I was going to lose him. He was going to freeze me to death.

His blue eyes glowing like the auroras of the North and South Poles. "Consider this your only warning, Dorian. Leave this place now before..." Cyrus' voice trailed off suddenly as he looked down at his grip on my wrist with wide eyes.

Feeling the chills fading, and my body heating up, I also took a glance to see what was happening. The frost that was coated from my hand to my elbow began to dissolve, turning to water, and dripping off my skin and down to the snow.

What was going on? From the look on Cyrus' face, he too was shocked by the sudden defrosting. He released me and backed away in alarm.

"That's not possible," Cyrus whispered, looking at his hand as if he no longer recognized it as his own.

I stared at my thawed arm in surprise. No shred of ice left, and no signs of injury or frostbite. I was okay.

"Who... What are you? Why can’t I freeze you?" Cyrus demanded.

I stood back up, not bothering to try reaching for him again, and took a deep breath. "I’m not sure, but I think it may have something to do with why I’m here.”

Cyrus raised an eyebrow. “And that is?”

I took a deep breath, and said, “I’m…your mate, Cyrus.”

About the Author

JM Wolf never thought he would one day say that he's a published M/M romance author. Having a poet for a mother and a sister to once ran a blog, it was only a matter of time before JM discovered his writing genes. In the beginning, his sole purpose in life was to be a singer/songwriter. Writing lyrics was the first step putting his thoughts onto paper. Even while singing, JM always found time to dabble with writing little short stories but never thought too much about it.

Once he reached adulthood, his music dreams left him, but not the feeling for writing down what was in his mind. However, that didn't mean music no longer played a part in JM's life. His debut book The Black Feather was inspired by one of his favorite songs. Whether lyrics or love stories, you will always find JM's heart and soul in every word on paper.

JM Wolf lives in Chesapeake, VA with his husband and in-laws. When he's not writing, you can always find reading a good book, spending time with the love of his life, or jamming out to music. He didn't pick the world of literature, the literary world picked him.
