After having been kicked off the family ranch by his father, Marc Poulson has made a new home for himself as the foreman of the Double R Ranch. His fellow ranch hands are his family, but he’s still not complete without Casey Morgan, his counterpart at the neighboring Del Rio Ranch. In the middle of a feud with his one-time best friend, Marc struggles to understand why Casey would rather take a swing at him than talk to him. He wants to put the past behind them and rebuild what they once had and make their relationship stronger than ever, but Casey is having none of it.

Casey has his own demons to deal with, and Marc serves as a reminder to things he’d rather forget. Casey can’t see beyond the past and continues to make mistakes that put both him and Marc in harms way. After one close call too many, Casey must decide whether his past is more important than his future, or if he can live with Marc walking out of his life—possibly forever.

This was such a good read. Who does not love a book about two Cowboys trying to find their way to one another.

This book is full of anger, mistrust, grudges, fights, denial, acceptance, hard work, happiness, and so much more.

Marc knows what it is like to come out to your family as gay and he knows what it is like to lose your family because of it. That is what happened to him but he did not let it destroy him. He left like his father asked him to do and made a life and home for himself at the Double R Ranch. Everything seems to be coming together for him. He has made foreman and he has friends that feel like family and a great boss, Ryan. Couldn’t have asked for more or at least he could not have until that perfect night with his best friend and foreman of the neighboring ranch Casey. For it to be a perfect night, the next morning turned his happy life upside down.

Casey has so many secrets and a past that has shaped his future in ways he never would have expected. So after finally being able to act on his feelings for Marc, Casey thought as he drifted off to sleep the night that it happened that things was finally going to work out between them. But the next morning Casey flipped out on Marc and he can’t exactly tell him why or what is going on in his head so he plays it off as Marc took advantage of him to Marc.

That one night that should have brought these two men together actually tore them apart and turned their lives upside down and created a lot of hostility between the two of them. The hostility carries over into their work lives and if something does not change one of them or someone else is going to end up hurt or dead.

Can Casey finally come clean with Marc and start to maybe repair what happened between them or will it come a little too late?

This is a read about secrets and fear ruling one mans life and dictating what is future is lime. He has to learn to overcome his fears and go for what will make him truly happy before he loses his chance. It is a book where the main characters has to learn to let go of their anger and pain and learn to communicate with each other in order to overcome all the bad that has happened in both the past and the present. I really enjoyed this read because you never knew what was going to happen next between these two hot headed, stubborn Cowboys so it was constantly full of all different kinds of action with each turn of the page. Amazing story and definitely on my recommended read list.

About the Author

The heart wants what it wants and sometimes nothing will derail its journey.

Renee Stevens first started writing in her teens but didn’t get serious about being an author until her mid-twenties. Since then she’s written a number of contemporary stories, as well as delved into the paranormal. When not writing, or spending time in the outdoors, Renee can usually be found working on in her capacity of Admin, Blog Coordinator, and Anthology Coordinator.

Renee resides in Wyoming with her wonderfully supportive husband and a menagerie of four-legged critters. Making the most of the nearly constant negative temperatures and mounds of snow, Renee spends much of the winter months in hibernation with her laptop, the voices in her head keeping her company while her husband works.

When she needs a break from writing, Renee takes to the sewing machine to design, and make, beautiful quilts. When the snow finally disappears, usually around May or June, Renee can be found in the great-outdoors. She spends her time on the mountain, at the lake, and just anywhere that she can do some camping, take some photos, and ride the four-wheelers with her hubby. Once back at home, it’s back to writing.
